A 'chance' meeting 3

The rattle of chain. The blur of black leather. A shocking impact on her arm, sending the knife spinning away.
A resounding bang as one gloved hand snatched the blade from the air and drove it into the table.

Sophia looked up in mute defiance at the figure now straddling her, holding her arms pinned above her head. She strained against the grip and the chain, but her attacker was too strong.

'I told you. I didn't come here to hurt you. I only came here to talk.'

She sighed and shook her head.

'I guess I'll have to take measures to make sure you don't just attack me.'

Sophia looked frantically around the diner. Where were the waitresses, the lady at the bar? Why were there no other customers?

'Don't worry. I've made sure we won't be disturbed. The others are all tucked away in the stock room. Oh, don't look so worried, none of them are hurt. But you'd be surprised what people will do when you offer them a bag of cash. The whole wait staff have suddenly come down with migraines, and have gone to find somewhere quiet and dark for a rest.'

She reached under her jacket. 'Now, let's make sure we can actually have a bit of a discussion, shall we?'
